Diana, BA (Hons) Psychology (Stirling University), BSc (Hons) Complementary Health Sciences (Ayurveda) & Post Graduate Diploma (Ayurvedic Medicine) from Middlesex University, has over 30 year’s full-time experience teaching the Transcendental Meditation programme and working in the stress management and self development fields not only to the population of Glasgow but throughout Britain.
She holds a diploma in stress management from Central College of Commerce and a doctorate in the Science of Creative Intelligence (1998). This doctorate was awarded as a result of advanced meditative practices gained over more than twenty years of research into consciousness and application of these practises for the benefit of society. In Glasgow, Diana has many year's full time experience training clients and groups such as General Practitioners through the PGMA in stress management and meditation providing training courses to some 20% of Strathclyde GP's. She has also worked with disadvantaged groups through SIPs schemes and currently through Healthy Living Centres as well as teaching in various Glasgow based colleges. She is registered for Enhanced Disclosure Scotland, issued 01/04/2009.
Her certificate in Ayurvedic Relaxation Massage was gained from the College of Ayurveda (UK) in 2005, with whom she is a registered lecturer.
Her interest in Ayurveda started in1980 after attending a course in New Delhi where many guest vaidyas (Ayurvedic experts) including the renowned Dr V.M. Dwivedi discussed with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi how to enable the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to be made available for the benefit of the Western world. Further courses in The Hague in 1983 where she attended a pulse diagnosis course led by Dr Trigunaji and subsequently other courses throughout Europe introduced her to many of the wonderful unique aspects of this system of natural healthcare. She began to see the effects of what even a little knowledge could have on the health and well-being of her own students of Transcendental Meditation. In 1996 she attended a short training course in New Delhi for western medical practitioners led by a world renowned Vaidyacharya Dr J.R.Raju who belongs to a family of vaidyas stretching back many generations. This course provided training in treatment of several common conditions using herbal preparations available in the UK through Maharishi Ayurvedic Products - which remain one of the leading approved suppliers by the professional body (A.P.A.) in this field. Dr Rajuji at the time was one of the few remaining experts in Nadi Pariksha (examination and diagnosis through the pulse) having learnt this at the age of four from his uncle. At the behest of Maharishiji he was encouraged to devise training courses in knowledge of the pulse Diana is very fortunate to be one of those receiving first hand knowledge from him over many years.
Shortly after this it became apparent that the law regarding complementary practitioners was going to change. In 2000 the House of Lords produced a report which detailed recommendations. Concurrently Dr Athique, an Ayurvedic medical practitioner originally from India now resident in the UK had founded the College of Ayurveda (UK). This college was offering more advanced training than was available through other agencies. Most importantly these courses were in keeping with the upcoming statutory regulatory changes. Dr Athique was also in conversation with universities in order to have the courses offered through the university system. This he finally succeded in doing in 2005 when the course was incorporated into Middlesex University. In 2004 Diana started attending the batchelor of science course, graduating with an upper second, BSc(Hons) Complemetary Health Sciences (Ayur) in 2008. She completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Ayurvedic Medicine in 2010 and in March 2011 attended a post graduate training course along with 50 other Ayurvedic Medical Practitioners from all over the world which qualified her as a Maharishi Ayur-Veda practitioner allowing her to prescribe unique and powerful Veda Herbal Medicines. |
